〈Passing Skill〉 initiates from what stands as arguably the most useless public sign ‘Do Not Run’. Observing Seoul Subway commuters, one confronts how helpless the rigor of this rule becomes in the face of individuals’ unpredictable movements. People here reveal an evolved ability to dodge one another in an exceptionally smooth manner. While this everyday space speaks only in binary extremes—to run or not to run, individual or collective—people move to their own divided rhythms acquired within the swarm. People do not easily collide with each other. Rather, a hollow power of old authority lingering in a disciplinary society collides with the commuters. This collision, like a failed clap, feels slightly funny.
