〈I’m Only Saying This for Your Own Good〉 examines how language intended to maintain public order is transformed into nagging within interpersonal relationships, only to return as an internalized form of discipline through which one begins to monitor oneself. Wrapped in glittering vinyl and pastel-colored decoration, these phrases reveal structures of control concealed beneath the appearance of care. Expressions such as “Aren’t you going to study?”, “Are you still sleeping?”, and “After everything I’ve done for you!” simultaneously enact affection and surveillance, care and control, prompting the internalization of social productivity and moral obligation. Once ingrained, these signs remain like badges, shaping one’s subsequent thoughts and sense of identity—much like a society saturated with signs.
